Tangling in Culver City

A GREAT CLASS !!!!!

Fourteen lovely ladies got together last Saturday for their first Zentangle class.  Almost without exception they had never heard of Zentangle before, but were invited by their good friend, Sandra, to give it a try.  Fun was had by all.....and look at the beautiful tiles that came out of the class !!!

Entangled

The Mosaic app talked about combining tangles last month and I have been playing around with the idea.  Some tangles just lend themselves to this.....I like Dyon and Bales for combining tangles.  So here are my 2 attempts at doing that....

Using Dyon with Crescent Moon, Poke Root, Shattuck & some black pearls...

And using Bales with Marasu (and some little Bales) .....

Fab 5 does a Traveler

The Olympics is not the only one to have a great team of five.....I have 5 wonderful friends who have been tangling together once a month for over a year.  I started out giving them lessons, but now we are all at the same level and do "challenges" each month.  We met this month on August 9 and I was inspired by the Mosaic app to do a traveling tile.  So we all did the same string....then tangled part of it.....then gave it to someone else to finish.  Here is what we did......it was fun!!!!

Village 20 Loves to Tangle !

Four lovely ladies from Village 20 (and one visitor from outside the Village) got together yesterday for their introduction to the Zentangle Method.  A great time was had by all.  Look at the wonderful tiles they created below !!  Hopefully we can get together again for more tangling fun......

Starting at the top, the tiles were done by Susan, Terri, Julie, Diane and Debbie.  Thank you for your beautiful creations.  I had a wonderful time introducing you to my love of the Zentangle Method!!

My "Fabulous Five" has been meeting once a month for over 6 months now.  I have given them all the lessons that I have in my lesson plan book.....so this time we did a challenge.  First Ina brought a new pattern to teach us -- and then Cathy presented the 'challenge', which was to combine Crescent Moon and Jetties.  Above are the results.  How fun it is to see how different they all are and yet how beautiful each one is!!  A great time was had by all.  We are going to do the same format next month.  It is fun for me to sit back and be the student instead of the teacher.....but Cathy had to slap my hands a couple times because I have a hard time not giving 'suggestions'....need to learn to keep my mouth shut!! :)

Valentine's Day Tangles

My Fabulous Five (six with Aaron) met last night to do a Valentine tangle.  Not everyone completely finished....but, if not done, they are all well on their way to beautiful tiles.  I put a heart gem in the center of each tile and had them add bezels and tangles.  Here is the result....some very lucky people will be getting these cards on the 14th.....enjoy.....

I finally gave in to the urge to try doing a 'gem' after seeing so many beautiful ones and hearing the term thrown around.  And it was fun; however, I must admit that doing the bezel around the gem was much more in my comfort zone.  It seems to me that there is almost a 'grass roots' movement of getting back to the basics in the Zentangle world and I love that idea.  There are so many very talented artists tangling such beautiful peices of art .... and I fall into the pit of comparing my work to theirs once in awhile.  But the Zentangle Method is not so much about the outcome as it is with the process.  And it is the process that I love about tangling (seeing as I am not one of those 'very talented artists' myself!).  That being said, I am posting my first 2 attempts at doing a gem (thanks to Eni Oken's wonderful how-to book).....
